About this property
Wisteria Lodge stands on its own in flat green farmland, a detached single-storey building clad in silvered timber under a dark green roof, with a long line of hills closing the horizon.
A concrete path runs from the lane to the door across lawn that wraps the whole building, with a hedge screening one side. The round picnic table on the paved terrace outside is the giveaway that this is somewhere people sit out.
Blue sofas and a wall of daylight
The sitting room is bright and uncluttered: two blue leather sofas facing each other across a striped rug, a floor lamp, a shelf of books and games, and glazed doors opening onto the terrace. A big canvas of water droplets in orange and blue is the one loud thing in the room. The kitchen shares its space with the dining table, in white gloss units under wooden worktops, with an oven and hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher, and the sink below the window so you look over the fields while you wash up.
Two bedrooms, painted bedsteads
Two bedrooms sleep four between them, one with an extra-large double and one with two singles. Both have painted wooden bedsteads, matching bedside tables and shuttered windows over the fields. The shower room is modern and plain, with a glazed enclosure, a grey vanity unit and a black ladder radiator. Linen and towels are provided.
The lawn and the picnic table
The picnic table sits on decking outside the doors, facing open ground with the hills behind. Grass runs off on every side, past the hedge to the fields.
Down to the coast
This is countryside rather than seafront, and it works best with a car. Peel is a short drive away, with its harbour, its castle on the islet and Fenella Beach below the walls.
Four people and a car
Two couples, or a family of four, wanting quiet, level, single-storey space with the door opening onto grass. Not the choice if you want to walk to a pub.
