Modern 2-Bedroom Apartment - Heart of Douglas

This is a ground-floor flat on Derby Road, one of the residential streets set back from the Douglas seafront, and it sleeps up to six across two bedrooms and a sofa bed.

The way in is a red panelled door in a row of painted houses. A panelled hallway runs off it to the rooms, all of them on one level, so there are no stairs to manage with luggage or with children.

One level, and a kitchen that works

The kitchen does the heavy lifting: oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine and a full set of pans and crockery, with a dining table alongside it. The sitting room keeps a dark sofa and a seating area facing a flat-screen with streaming apps ready to go. Windows look onto greenery at the back. A washing machine, a drying rack and an iron are there for a longer stay.

Two bedrooms and the sofa bed

One bedroom takes a large double, the second a standard double, and the sofa in the living room folds out to make up the six. Linen is provided and beds are made up. The bathroom is tiled with a walk-in shower, and there are towels, toilet paper and a hairdryer waiting.

Down to the bay

Douglas Beach and the promenade are a short walk downhill, and once you are on the front the whole sweep of the bay opens up. Douglas puts the shops, the restaurants and the ferry terminal within reach on foot, which makes a hire car optional rather than essential.
