Flat 2 Douglas Head Road

Head Road climbs away from the quays towards Douglas Head, and Flat 2 sits behind a plain door partway up it. What the flat offers is space and daylight rather than styling, and it takes four.

Arriving on the hill

This is the harbour side of Douglas, above the water rather than on the front, so it is quieter than a promenade address and the walk into town is downhill. The flat is self-contained, with laminate boards running through and tall curtained windows across the front.

Kitchen, table and sofa in one room

The main space runs from the kitchen at one end to the sitting area at the other. White wall units sit above burgundy bases along one side, with an oven, a gas hob under a stainless extractor, a microwave, a kettle and a washing machine set into the run. A dining table and chairs stand beside it. Past that the sofa faces the windows, and there is a flat-screen television and heating throughout.

One bedroom, four beds

The bedroom takes a double with a padded headboard, a wardrobe unit and heavy curtains at the window. The sofa in the living room folds down, which is how the flat sleeps four. The bathroom is white-tiled, with a quadrant shower cubicle, a basin and a WC.

Above the harbour

The road looks back over the water towards Douglas, and the walk down brings you to the quays and the promenade beyond. Douglas Beach is within walking distance, and the head itself is behind you for the cliff paths.

Good for four

Two couples, or a family with children, who want their own kitchen and a washing machine and would rather be a walk above the town than in the middle of it.
