About this property

Stoneyloft is a one-bedroom apartment worked into the roof of Stoneycroft, a house on Glen Vine Road. Andy and Steph run it. The finish is consistent throughout: herringbone oak flooring in every room, slatted timber panels behind the bed and the television.

The building shows as a clean white gable against the sky, and the apartment has its own entrance. It sits back from the road behind a gravel drive with room to park, a lawn edged with rhododendron and mature trees down one side.

Under the roofline

The living space is open plan, the ceiling following the pitch of the roof. A sage-green shaker kitchen with oak worktops takes one wall: hob, integrated dishwasher, microwave, fridge and a deep white sink under the window, with an air fryer, coffee machine and toaster out on the counter. A grey sofa faces a wall-mounted television across a round oak table, and a dining table for two sits under a window looking into the trees. A dressing table with a padded chair doubles as a desk.

The bed and the shower room

The double bed has an oak frame and a checked wool throw, tucked into the deepest part of the room, slatted panelling behind it. Add the two sofa beds next door and six can stay. The shower room is the surprise: full-height timber panelling, a rainfall head, a wall-hung vanity with rolled towels beneath, a backlit round mirror and Cole and Lewis toiletries.

The lawn and the picnic bench

There is a garden too: a wide lawn with a wooden picnic bench under a flowering rhododendron and a long view over the hedges to the fields.

Out to the coast

This is inland Isle of Man: fields, hedges, hills behind. Douglas is the closest town, near enough to drive in for dinner, far enough that you hear none of it. Bring a car.

A base for

Couples who want somewhere quiet and properly finished, or a small family using the sofa beds and a car for the coast.
