About this property
Hollie's Beach House is a detached house on Shore Road in Peel, standing among the painted seafront properties with the bay straight across the road and the town climbing behind.
Peel's sand curves away in front, and from upstairs the view runs over the rooftops to the water, the harbour and the church tower on its hill. Inside, the house has been opened right up.
Beams, a stove and an island
Black beams cross a white ceiling the length of the ground floor. The living room has deep tan leather sofas, a wood-burning stove set into an exposed stone chimney breast and a television on the wall above it. That space runs on to a dining table with benches, then a kitchen with a central island, white units, oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. A utility area off to the side holds the washing machine and tumble dryer.
Sleeping six on Shore Road
Three bedrooms sleep six. Two have large double beds and the third has a pair of singles. The decoration is bolder than the living space: palm-print bedding in pink and green, a deep velvet headboard, a round rattan mirror, a small desk under the window. Two bathrooms serve them: one with a full bath and wide vanity unit, the other a shower room under the slope of the roof. Linen, towels, a hairdryer and an iron are provided.
The castle across the bay
The far end of the beach is closed off by the red sandstone ruins of Peel Castle on St Patrick's Isle, the view you get walking out of the front door. Peel is the island's west-coast fishing town, with the harbour, the kipper smokehouses and the House of Manannan behind the seafront. Fenella Beach is a walk round beneath the castle walls.
Best suited to
Families and two couples travelling together, and anyone who wants to be on the sand rather than driving to it. The stove makes it work outside summer as much as in it.
