About this property
Glen Mona is a guest house on Mona Drive in Douglas, part of a red-brick terrace and run by the same firm as the houses beside it. The rooms are warm and strongly coloured rather than neutral.
From the pavement the terrace reads as one long frontage of bays and white-framed windows, with tables and chairs set out on the flagstones and lights strung above them. The bar and restaurant signs on that stretch belong to the group as a whole, not to Glen Mona alone.
The bar and dining room the houses share
The bar is a curved timber counter with beer taps, a wall of bottles behind and a bay window at its side, and it serves the group of guest houses rather than this one on its own. The dining room sits nearby: dark wooden tables laid with cutlery, glasses and folded napkins, with a serving counter at the far end.
Red walls and lamplight
Bedrooms are built around a red feature wall behind the bed, hung with framed prints and squares of gold artwork, with cream and chocolate bedding, a headboard the width of the bed and a lamp on each side. Doubles, twins and larger executive rooms are offered. Several have a small round table and an armchair at the window, and a dressing table with a mirror, kettle and cups on a shelf above it. Shower rooms are tiled in cream with a glazed walk-in shower, basin and toilet. One room has a whirlpool bath, and toiletries are put out.
Tables on the flagstones
The outdoor space is the frontage itself, where metal tables and chairs stand on the paving facing the street.
Walking down to the sea
Douglas Beach and the promenade are a short walk from the door, and the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants of Douglas follow the front round the bay.
Best for
Guests who want an easy, comfortable room in Douglas with a bar and a proper dining room a few paces along the same terrace.
