Ramsey Park Hotel

Ramsey Park Hotel is the big modern building on Mooragh Promenade at the northern end of Ramsey, the park and its lake on one side, the northern hills standing up behind. It is easily the largest thing on this stretch of road.

The block is rendered in cream with deep red panels, glass along the ground floor where the Lake View Restaurant takes the corner. A canopy shelters the entrance, and the car park wraps round the side with room for a coach.

Through the glass canopy

Reception is bright and unfussy, olive armchairs on a pale tiled floor. The public rooms beyond are unusually generous: a long bar with trophies on the back shelf, a lounge under a soaring ceiling, sitting nooks of wing chairs and lamps, a grand piano in one corner, and a red-carpeted ballroom for functions.

Classic doubles and twins

Rooms come as doubles with an extra-large bed or twins with two singles, each with a private bathroom, a flat-screen, a desk, a kettle and a wardrobe. A lift serves the upper floors, and the hotel is set up for wheelchair users, with grab rails, a raised toilet, a lower sink and an emergency cord.

Out on the front terrace

Tables and chairs stand on the paving outside the restaurant under an awning, and they fill up whenever the weather allows. There is play equipment on the grass within sight of the building, and parking on site.

Mooragh Promenade and the shore

Mooragh Park and its boating lake sit across the road, and the beach runs the length of the bay from the end of the promenade. The centre of Ramsey, with the harbour and the shops, lies along the front to the south.

It suits guests who want a restaurant and a bar downstairs rather than a key box and a supermarket run, families who need somewhere for children to burn off an afternoon, and groups, since the function rooms mean events run here regularly.
