Antrim Holiday Apartment

Antrim has its name carved into the stone above the bay window, which says something about how the building was regarded long before anybody let it by the week. The apartment sits behind that bay, on Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey.

The front is cream render and sash windows, with a black door reached up a flight of stone steps between painted pillars and an iron balcony on the floor above. The promenade runs along the front, and the shore is a step away.

Behind the bay window

Inside it is one bright open room. A single wall is painted deep navy and carries a long ribbon fire set into it, a television above and lit alcoves either side; everything else is pale, and the bay itself is dressed in slatted blinds with a table and chairs pulled up to the light. The kitchen runs along the far end in dark gloss units, with oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and a coffee machine. The bathroom keeps a full bath with the shower over it behind a glass screen.

One bedroom, and the sofa that opens

The bedroom takes a double, with a padded headboard, shelving built into the bed head and a wardrobe alongside. The sofa in the living room opens out, which is how the flat takes four rather than two. Linen and towels are provided, and a drying rack is there for anything that has been out in the weather.

Out on Mooragh Promenade

Step out of the door and you are on the front, with sand and the breakwater light along the shore. The rest of Ramsey, its shops and its harbour full of boats, lies along the promenade.

Two, or four using the sofa bed

It suits a couple who want the sea outside and nothing to look after, and it stretches to a small family. There is no outdoor space of its own, though with the promenade at the door that is hardly a loss.
