Apartments in Laxey

Laxey is a village in a steep wooded glen, and the apartments we list here are scattered along it: some up near the old mine workings and the Great Laxey Wheel, some down at Old Laxey by the harbour and the beach. It is a short but genuinely steep walk between the two ends, which is worth knowing before you book.

There is not much accommodation in Laxey, so what there is goes early. What you get for it is a base with a glen behind, a beach below, and two Victorian electric railways running through — the Manx Electric Railway along the coast between Douglas and Ramsey, and the Snaefell Mountain Railway climbing to the summit from the station in the village.

Up the glen or down at the harbour

The village splits into two halves at different heights. The upper village sits near the wheel and the mines trail; Old Laxey, down at the bottom, has the harbour, the beach and the pub.

Trams to both towns

Laxey station is on the Manx Electric Railway, so Douglas and Ramsey are both reachable without a car, and the Snaefell line starts from the same platform.

Who they suit

Walkers, railway enthusiasts and couples. There is a limited choice of stays, so fix your dates and book early rather than shopping around.
